Lines are colour-coded by rail type and filterable by maximum permitted speed, electrification system, track gauge and line usage. The map reveals the layered structure of the network: high-speed intercity spines, slower regional connectors, freight-only branches serving ports and industrial zones, and heritage lines preserved for tourism. Switch between filter modes to view the same railway infrastructure through a different lens — the same line that appears as a passenger main line in usage mode will show its permitted speed and electrification system in the other views.
Tokyo has 10,330 mapped railway segments including 53 tram lines, 1,470 metro segments, 132 light rail segments and 15 narrow gauge segments. It also includes 248 high-speed railway segments and 7,718 electrified segments.
